TV Box & Firestick FAQ

How does an android tv box work?

An android tv box is a mini computer running an android operating system. Android tv boxes can run different apps and add-ons that allow you to stream shows from the internet to your tv.

Android tv boxes work similarly to Netflix in that there are no channels, instead you choose a show. Because content is accessed from the internet, what you can access is unlimited and has no monthly fees. TV shows that have just aired on tv are generally available within an hour.

Can I get IPTV on your tv boxes?

Yes, you can. We don’t sell IPTV subscriptions but can install the app needed for Beast TV IPTV. Beast TV costs $15 US a month. Click here to learn more about Beast TV IPTV. If you want to subscribe to a different IPTV service, you can. Most IPTV service providers have simple installation instructions.

Are there any monthly fees?

No there aren’t. If you choose to subscribe to an additional service such as an IPTV service, there are fees for those services.

What’s the difference between IPTV and Kodi streaming?

An IPTV service gives you live tv with a channel guide that works like cable.

Kodi based streaming works more like Netflix with no limits on what you can watch. You choose a show or movie you want to watch instead of a channel. TV shows are generally available within an hour of airing on tv.

You can watch tv shows, movies and sports using either an IPTV service or Kodi apps & add-ons.

Can I run both an IPTV service and Kodi on my tv box?

Yes you can.

How often will I need to update my tv box?

There is no timeline on how often you’ll need to update. We use a variety of android apps and Kodi add-ons so you have lots of different streaming sources to use.

We offer 3 choices to our customers for future updates, they can use the step by step instructions on our website to update their tv box themselves anytime they want, they can bring us their tv box to update or we can remotely update their tv box.

What speed internet should I have?

We recommend a minimum of 25 Mbps for better streaming. If your speed is slower than 25 Mbps, you’ll want to subscribe to a service called streaming enhancement service. To see what internet speed you have, go to www.fast.com. That website will give you your download speed. We recommend you run a speed test during peak hours (5 pm to 10 pm for a realistic idea of your speed).

Do I need one tv box per tv?

Yes. Technically, you can move your tv box from tv to tv but we don’t recommend that as it’s hard on the HDMI port.

Do I need a VPN?

We don’t use one.

What’s the difference between the two models of tv boxes?

Storage, memory and wifi speed are where the two models differ. Both models offer dual-band (2.4 and 5g) wifi and ethernet internet connectivity. The 4gb model has faster wifi capabilities where the 2gb model’s fastest internet connection is when hardwired with an ethernet cable or a powerline ethernet adapter.

Do I need a Smart TV to use an android tv box?

No. As long as your tv has an HDMI port, you can use an android tv box.
