Different brands of tv boxes do the same things in slightly different ways. Here are some general instructions for allowing permissions on OS 8.1 and 9.0 tv boxes. A good rule of thumb is to always allow permissions (say yes) and follow the prompts given.
Your tv box may display one or more of the following messages when you are installing or updating an app.
If you get a pop-up message that says,
“For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source.”
A sidebar menu will appear with various apps that are on your tv box. Click the toggles beside each one to turn any that are off to on.
Either the update prompts will continue or they won’t. If they do, continue following the prompts.
If they don’t, exit the app you were in. This updates the permission you just set.
Now go back into the app and you should be the update pop up again. Follow the prompts to do the update.
Choose Install and Done as prompted.
You may get a pop up that asks you how you want to complete this action. In this case, choose the top option, Install Unknown Apps. Click Always. Then the sidebar menu will appear.
