Shield Full Update

Read these instructions on your phone, tablet or computer and do the actions on your tv box.

First: Update/Clear Chrome

Go into Settings (gear wheel in the top right corner on the main screen of your tv box), then Apps. Scroll to Chrome.

Chrome may be found under Show System Apps.

(If you have a much older box that hasn’t been updated in a few years, you may not have Chrome on your tv box. You can use the instructions below to install it. DO NOT USE BROWSER, use Chrome.)

Click Chrome.
Scroll down to Clear Cache and click it.
Click any prompts and OK any permissions.
Repeat for Clear Data.

Next, look at the version number listed for Chrome. You’ll need a Chrome version starting with 80 or higher in order to successfully download files.

If the version of Chrome on your tv box is less than 80, it needs to be updated. Click here for instructions to install or update Chrome.

Second: Turn Off Auto-Updates/Sign Out of The Play Store

If you are signed into the Google Play Store, go in and turn off auto-updates or better yet, sign out of the Play Store.

Auto-updates must be turned off so that Kodi does not auto-update to version 19 which is not compatible with most of the Kodi add-ons in our programming.
*The Play Store has recently had an update that will turn auto-updates back on. If you don’t want to lose your Kodi programming a second time, sign out of the Play Store.
Click here to see how to turn off auto-updates in the Play Store.

Third: Clear The Download Folder

Since the release of Kodi 19, it is very important that you clear the download folder in File Commander before starting anything. If you don’t do this, you will get an error.

Go to Apps.

Scroll to File Commander (may be called TV File Commander).

Click File Commander.

Scroll down to Internal Storage and click it.

Scroll to Download.
Note: your tv box may not have a Download folder here. If you don’t see Download here, exit back to the main screen and continue to Uninstall Old Apps

Click the right arrow on your Shield remote to highlight the three dots to the right of the word Download.

Click the three dots. A new menu will appear.

Scroll down and click on Delete. Click OK.

Exit back out to the main screen.

Fourth: Uninstall Old Apps

24. Having up-to-date programming is important but the best thing you can do for better streaming is to sign up for Real Debrid. Real Debrid makes streaming much faster and simpler. Click here to learn more.

If you already have a Real Debrid subscription, you’ll need to sync it with the updated apps and Kodi add-ons. Click here for a video tutorial or here for written instructions.

IMPORTANT!
Unless you have a VPN (you’ll know if you do) or an active Real Debrid subscription on your tv box, do not choose a link that says “Torrent”. These are file-sharing links that play really well but will get a warning letter from your internet provider. Typically these links are found in the Kodi add-ons but may be in the Android Apps as well.

Did you know you can use the Android Apps (Cinema HD V2, Bee TV, Nova TV, Viva TV) without first opening Kodi? You can!

Cinema HD V2, Bee TV, Nova TV and Viva TV are stand-alone apps that do not require Kodi to run. We’ve included them in our Kodi menu but they can also be used on their own. You can access any of the Android Apps without first opening Kodi by going into Apps on the main screen of your tv box. There you will see all of your apps. Click the icon for the app you want to use.

Quick tip for Viva and Nova: When watching a tv show, don’t click Watch Now, instead click Choose Season and go from there
